yes, i agree with you. my son however has never really seen that. he has always been my constant reminder of my shortcomings. it has been our most painful experience.
I won't argue with your feelings, but I'm beginning to believe that so much of the human experience is in feeling and exploring that gap between where we find ourselves vs where we want to be. Living with, working with, and continuing to try to bridge the shortcomings. That's what your (our) kids hopefully see most of all - that despite that gap we never stop trying to cross it for them. Like you said, we can't work with it until we name it.
